هذا الكتاب في بابه الأول يحاول التعرف على الحياة الاقتصادية ببلاد المغرب ، مع إبراز دور المؤثرات الخارجية والداخلية في رسم معالم تلك الأوضاع الاقتصادية ، وقسم إلى ثلاثة فصول : الفصل الأول : الحياة الاقتصادية ببلاد المغرب بداية من القرن 6هـ / 12م حتى نهاية الحكم الموحدي الفصل الثاني : الحياة الاقتصادية مابعد الموحدين إلى آواخر القرن 10هـ / 16م والفصل الثالث: المؤثرات الداخليةوالخارجية في اقتصاد بلاد المغرب ، مع مقارنة في دور تلك المؤثرات مابين أقطار بلاد المغرب أما الباب الثاني : خصص لإبراز مظاهر التحولات الاقتصادية ببلاد المغرب وآثارها  وقسم إلى ثلاثة فصول : الفصل الأول : مظاهر الازدهار الزراعي والصناعي والانفتاح التجاري ، الفصل الثاني : مظاهر تراجع الاقتصاد لبلاد المغرب والفصل الثالث : آثار تلك التحولات من حيث التأثير في المجتمع  في حالة الرخاء أو الأزمات الاقتصادية مع التطرق لدور الازدهار الاقتادي في التطور الحضاري
