32= Adhyatma Ramayan Of Veda Vyas

The ‘Adhyatma Ramayan’ is a magnificently rendered, eternally divine classical epic story of Lord Ram, a manifestation of the transcendental Supreme Being, as the king emperor of Ayodhya. Being incorporated in the Brahmand Puran’s Uttar Khand, it is the most ancient, authentic and authoritative version of Lord Ram’s eternal and sublime story, having a scriptural sanction. Flowing from the prolific, expert and flourishing hand of the legendary sage Veda Vyas, the prodigious classifier of the Vedas and the captivating narrator of the ancient Purans, this enchanting version of Ramayan is masterpiece of classical Sanskrit literature narrated in a style befitting the exalted stature of its original author sage Veda Vyas. The holy book is completely soaked with spiritualism, bristling and brimming over as it is with the eclectic virtues of devotion and faith, morality and ethics, righteousness and virtuousness. The epic stands out from all other myriad versions of Ramayan in its high spiritual and metaphysical quotient, as it incorporates in its text, as its integral fabric, the profoundest of tenets and doctrines enshrined in and expounded by the Vedas and the Upanishads. Lord Ram is portrayed not only as the most righteous, noble, exalted, learned, wise and enlightened Being, but more importantly, as the Vedas and Upanishads personified or embodied. Every opportunity has been used by the Lord to preach the subtlest and profoundest principles of the scriptures. It reaches a climax in the ‘Ram Geeta’ (in Uttar Kand) which is the crown jewel of metaphysical teaching. No other version of Ramayan has such a high quotient of spiritualism as Adhyatma Ramayan has. It is spiritually invigorating, intellectually fulfilling and a citadel of all that is holy and divine. This Ramayan incorporates countless number of occasions when the great philosophy of the Upanishads is explained in graphic detail. In fact, each opportunity is used to espouse the spiritual Truths as enunciated in the Vedas and the Upanishads in the way that blends perfectly with the text and which makes this Ramayan one of its only kind amongst the myriad versions of the epic story of the life and deeds of Lord Ram. The ancient version of the classical story of the Ramayana covers the entire life-story of Lord Ram, starting from the genesis of his incarnation right up to his departure from earth to go back to his heavenly abode. Along the way it narrates in detail the origin, the expansion and the establishment of the Demon race headed by their king, the 10-headed Ravana of Lanka. Ravana comes out as a very erudite, wise and enlightened soul, as his own take on spiritual philosophy are unique samples of metaphysical preaching of the highest order. Besides this, many events that occurred in the Lord’s life but are lesser known are also highlighted in this Adhytma Ramayan. The story was narrated by Lord Shiva to his divine consort Parvati in the heavens, and by the legendary sage Sut to the sages, seers and saints on earth. A brief life sketch of Veda Vyas, explanatory notes on Vendantic concepts, and a Mantra index add a special flavour to the holy book. It is said that this treatise formed the backbone of Tulsidas’ magnum opus, the epic Ramcharit Manas which is by far the widest read and revered book in the Hindi heartland of India. Elaborate notes and explanations make this book very interesting for everyone. The full original Sanskrit text has been included in this book along with its easy-to-read, lucid and wonderful English rendering that makes it look more like a classic reading of a historical novel rather than a scriptural text. This makes this volume a veritable treasure trove of new information on the legendary story of Lord Ram, universally known by the name of the ‘Ramayana’, for an English speaking reader. Useful notes and appendices have been added to give a lot of relevant information that enhance the value of our book both in terms of spiritual knowledge as well as metaphysical knowledge.
