ISLAM its MEANING and MESSAGE by KHURSHID AHMADProfessor Khurshid Ahmad, Chairman of the Islamic Foundation, U.K. and theInstitute of Policy Studies, Islamabad, Pakistan, holds a Masters in Economics andIslamic Studies, a first degree in Law, an honourary doctorate in Education fromthe University of Malaysia and an honourary D. Litt, from the University ofLoughborough, U.K. He has taught at the University of Karachi (1980-94) and theInternational Institute of Islamic Economics, International Islamic University,Islamabad (1983-87), and served as Federal Minister for Planning and DeputyChairman, Planning Commission, Pakistan (1978-79), as a member of the Senateof Pakistan (1985-97) and as Chairman, Senate Standing Committee on Finance andEconomy (1992-97, 2003-).
