H+ Magazine - Issue 2
H+ Magazine, a quarterly magazine on transhumanist news and ideas, launched in 2008. It has since changed its organization, leadership, and format several times. The magazine produced five issues from 2008 through 2009, each released as PDF-based digital editions and one released also as a print edition available in retail stores. The publisher changed from Humanity+ to Betterhumans LLC beginning with the second issue, with R. U. Sirius the editor of all five issues. In 2010, with R. U. Sirius continuing as editor, the magazine transitioned into a web-only publication not based around complete issues, and its publisher was switched back to Humanity+.Table of Contents12 Stephen Hawking: “Humans Have Entered a New Stage of Evolution”13 The Ever Smarter Home: Powered by Negawatts13 Classy Optical Company Takes Pictures of Your Brain14 Andy Droid: Your Sex Doll Has Arrived14 Cool Machine for Your Organs is Not Cold15 DARPA Funds Nano-UAV Hummingbird16 AI Can Bots Feel Joy?18 FOREVER YOUNG Open Source Medicine as the Next Insanely Great Thing20 BIO The End of the Beginning: Biotech Enters A New Phase22 ENHANCED My New Sense Organ24 Eyeborgian Filmaker Rob Spence28 Real Virtuality: Augmented Reality Blurs the Line Between the Real and Virtual32 Jonathan Coulton Embraces His Inner Squid34 You Are the Doll: Erik Davis on Dollhouse40 Tweaking Your Neurons: Will We Eventually Upload our Minds?44 The Neurology of Spiritual Experience: A Conversation with Andrew Newberg48 Cyborg Buddha: Science and Spirit50 The Psychedelic Transhumanists58 The Genomic Bodhisattva: An Interview with David Pearce63 Transgender, Transhuman, Transbeman: Uploading with Martine Rothblatt65 Transhumanism at Play68 Open Prediction: How Sports Fans Can Help Save the World 70 Sophie Barrett-Kahn Peers Through Her DIY Scanner, Darkly74 Sex & The Singularity77 Feeling Great Forever78 NEURO The Perils of FDS: Fun Deficiency Syndrome80 NANO Nanopeople82 Wake Up from Cryonics with Your Own Health Insurance Policy84 Playing Games86 Recommended Books 88 HUMOR The Pursuit of Crappiness
